I just bought a 97 Road King that needed an engine. I ended up finding a 91 FXR engine to swap. I pulled my motor out of the road king and noticed the mounting for the oil filter housing / other parts were different. What’s the difference between these to motors? Is there a lot involved in making it work?

The engines in all models for a given year are the same. Have you considered looking at how 91 and earlier baggers routed the oil and breather lines?

The fitting can be replaced by common hardware store items,, 1/8" pipe thread is the thread in the crankcase, 3/8" is the hose end...
Usually 2 seperate pieces are necessary... route the breather hoses as you would a 91.., the top breather came out in a mid year introduction in mid 92..
