I'm also looking at Ultima 113 to 127 to put in my FXR....ya get the same feed back that ya get from any brand....from "its a POS" to "what a great motor".....problems in the past have been stickin a piston.....lifter issues (Ultima guys will tell ya that its because of operator error)....a lot of em out there....you'll find haters and lovers with EVERY brand

they do back their stuff up tho

not sure but crap...if they're even close its more than a lot of other stuff in a bolt in

my local guy has a couple natural finish re-man 127's for 2500 (the reman is a motor that came back with a stuck piston or lifter)..they repair with new and resell :dunno:

this is my point really, lets say that motor does produce 110-114 hp for 3600 dollars the last twin cam I had built was a 95" motor that produced 107 hp 103 ftlb of toruque and I had 5600 dollars into it. why not just buy a crate motor? I would really like to see someones dyno sheet on either a 113 or 120 ultima motor to see where the torque and horsepower come on @

ultima did have a huge issue with lifters, since then, they have changed lifter manufacturers, they went thru some growing pains, but for the dollar, they are really hard to beat, also, talk to kirby on here, vee twin performance, he buys them unassembled and puts them together and beats on them, chad.

I rode this bike last week around Daytona....THANKS! Rick.
I can say it is a blast to ride. feels like 125.....130 ish:)
there is a little noise from the roller rockers.(at idle)
it has all you need to put a big smile on your face...right out of the box.
it hits 120 mph real quick:woohoo: THANKS Rick!
the work Rick did on the suspension, glide pro and blocks really made this ole girl go straight and no wobbles.
there is a lot of bang for the buck right there.

...a buddy of mine has an Ultima 113 and a 6 speed in his '90 FXR, and that thing is an absolute beast.
He beats on it pretty good, and has had zero trouble from it.
The Ultima motors are a good value. They did have lifter issues from what I've heard, but those issues have been taken care of.
I'd buy one...for the money, hard to beat....

Jireh cycles has the Ultima 120 in black for $3899 with free shipping on internet orders... Other places I've seen are charging up to $500 for shipping..

upon further investigation I'm startin to get a baaaaad feeling about these motors as far as longevity goes.

poor quality control....initial casting set up not great...cheap labor builders.....owner is a money grabbin...couldn't give a crap less about quality show me the money kinda guy....I'm out

good luck guys

OK... Thanks! I think I'm still inclined to get the motor & drive line kit, toss it in and see what transpires. Just gotta come up with the $$$ first..

if you look at the fondation of the motor cases crank rods pistons heads camshaft have you ever heard complaints about specifically those items no as far as things being made cheap come on man do we know the type of steel used for these items no all hear say. case in point the guy saying they are made in mexico see what i mean? I have all kind of old parts at my house that broke or blew up ranging from andrews, ss, crane, screamin eagle, doesnt mean there a piece of junk typically I have found its operator error. as far as the guy that helped develop the motor for midwest how long ago was that? time after time guys are posting on here the older stuff had problems but it would seem they are working the bugs out, any way the point being even if you used the foundation that you get from them and pull out the lifters for example and put in a set of bob woods lifters whats that 200 dollars your still way ahead of the guy that went out and bought a ss motor because its an ss motor

Ultimas

I have been running a 127 for 2 1/2 years. I beat the hell out of it and race it 3 or 4 times a month. It is the only bike that I have and is my daily ride. I have not had any problems with the motor. I did upgrade the lifters to the latest forged version that Johnson makes ( I got the very first set for sale to the public). Johnson also makes ULtima's oem lifter as well as HD's. I also changed the cam to a S&S 640 as I felt the orig cam to be too small. I have no regrets and it is turned 6500 rpm on a weekly basis without any problems. Ultima has upgraded their machining capabilities and have brought most of the process in house to solve QC problems. Great bang for the buck....
