A guy told me today that the Li-Ion batteries require a new version of the Battery Tender. What do y'all know about this?

From the FAQ at Battery Tender:
Can I use a standard Lead Acid charger/maintainer for my Battery Tender® lithium battery?
As long as the battery charger does not have a desulfation mode and the peak voltage does not exceed 14.8V during the charge cycle it can be used to charge a Battery Tender® Lithium Battery. Of course the best way to charge and maintain a Battery Tender® Lithium Battery is to use a Battery Tender® Lithium Battery Charger

The voltage limit is set lower on a Li charger. And as said above that de-sulf mode has to be turned off. Lots of tenders use that de-sulf mode as a way of preventing tender sickness, but it really just shortens the battery life, as the battery sees it as a charge cycle. Good tenders come with the ability to switch between Li and Lead.
