I have a 73 Super Glide Shovelhead that pops and cuts out when you hit about 50 MPH or better. If you have the throttle wide open while driving it will do it immediately as well. It feels like it's either getting temporarily completely cut off from gas or spark. People have told me it's the ignition system, coil, converter, solenoid, or electrical but that has all been replaced. Is it possible the timing isn't quite right? How about the carb? It's the stock carb with the suicide throttle and I have been advised to junk it and get an S&S. It runs just fine at slower speeds. Please advise, I'm at a loss.

Maybe it's Pingel petcock or similiar time.. Or new screen for yer petcock..

S&S is a fine carb, but you can get great performance & great fuel economy as well with a CV carb..And for MUCH less money too...
You would just need the bolt-on adapter for the carb..
A seller on Ebay named (machinist) has them all the time...$34.

I been running one of my CV's on my Flathead HD for about 5 yrs now...

Check your accelerator pump.
