Panhead backfiring / hard to start

As to the question,,,, no..
The timing is most important,,, set it to -0- or 2° advance at TDC on the front cylinder... then set the point gap at .016-.018, remember to retard the timing for starting, and advance it once running.
If the carb and manifold are properly sealed,, with fresh plugs it should start and not backfire..
