Hello genlemen,
I would like to ask somebody who has Lowie S, or other bike with 110" engine in it.
Have pretty new this bike and it is great! It is my first H-D so not really sure about normal noises.
The point is that my primary makes noise. It sounds like the chain is not well tighten. H-D service told me this is normal and it is caused by compensator. I know how it works and I´m pretty sure it is not caused by that...this is rattling noise nost scratches.
One time they opened it, due to the leak from the starter o-ring, and they told me chains was tightetn too much
Spoke with one guy from Czech and he told me he had same issue, and when he came to other H-D servis they filled in heavier viscosity oil in primary case and he told me noise disappeared.
Wondering if you guys could help me with the oil proposal, or it is nomral, or how you solved it on your bike.
Thanks!
Ondřej.

Welcome to the forum,
It is very difficult to diagnose what may be making noise in your primary over the internet, also the way sound travels through these motors you would swear the sound is coming from one place and it could be coming from another. as far primaries are concerned other than maybe a little chain wine there should be little or no noise from my experience. But I will let others chime in. Noise from the primary can be bearings/compensator/adjuster/ clutch slip or drag/drag on starter ring. not really a whole lot more going on in there. Has this noise been since you have had the bike or has it started after?

It is pretty new, m.y.2016 and 3000km on it.
It was louder than my previsou VN1500 from very begining, but at the moment it is more compare to the very first rides...
Just wondering about the oil change, which helped to the guys who told me his story. Unfortunatelly he does not know which oil they used...
I swear is is coming from the primary case...
Warmer the powetrain is, noise is more obvious...

That sounds like it would be more like valve train noise, in my experience all the synthetic oils allow more noise as the bike warms up, that does not always mean that there is an issue, it is just the nature of synthetic oil. I run non-synth oil 20-50 in my bike and it is quieter but my main reason is that I do not extend the oil change intervals when I did run synth so it was kind of a waste of money in that regard. If it is a new noise and it is valve train the first suspect would be lifters

If in the primary I would look at adjuster issues, chain too loose can slap around and make a rattling noise a chain too tight can eat bearings and based on heat and expansion the noise could change as the bike warms up

I´m pretty sure it is not valvetrain. It is going from the righ side and when I move my head closer to primary during ride, it´s there.¨
Have ordered Hayden M6-BT07 so will see the difference.
Do you know what viscosity is original H-D primary oil? And what kind with higher viscosity to try?

I don't know what you are running but most run 20-50 in everything engine/primary and transmission. I do like Mobil 1 V-Twin synth in the primary even tho I do not run it in the motor. the thing is, any dual grade oil will behave like any single grade oil at higher temps
the kind of heat generated in a primary should not be significant to break down conventional or synthetic oils, synthetics excel is temperature tolerance. so if you want to up the oil viscosity and you are running the standard 20-50 you will have to go to something 60 or above

Does anyone have input on the South Oregon Hot Bike 07 Primary Chain tensioner as of late? Can the Tensioner handle 143/142 Hp/.TQ?

I'll make a comment and answer my the question immediatly above.

NICE PRIMARY CHAIN CHAIN TENSIONER. IT'S A SMOOTH OPERATOR! no strange noises or clunks when shifting.

I recommend it for high HP/TQ engines (At least those that are within my range.)
