Noise when shutting down bike.

This noise just started the other week, I know, another freaken noise problem, this time my evo and not shovel.

Lets say I've had my bike out 5 times since last week and its happened 3 times. I will park the bike and turn it off and it almost sounds like you can hear the piston(s) parking itself, (themselves), does that make sense? Its like you can hear it make its last couple of revolutions. Its hard to describe the noise, its not a knock or anything and it sounds like it in the top end area. Almost like a dryer or washer that has come to the end of its cycle and the last few revolutions it makes a squealing noise, like that.

Today I drove to the hardware store, no noise till I stopped and parked it...same sound. I get my stuff and drive around for a while, warm it up good, and stop in a parking lot and shut it off and started it several times, and it DIDN'T make the noise. Drove home, shut off, NO noise again. I started her a few times and shut it off, NO noise still

Now last week, the time I first heard this noise, it happened while riding, I thought a brake was dragging or something, but it wasn't and it stopped after a minute or so. Then it DID make it when I shut it off at the store. Then when I got home, NO noise.

Any ideas? I know its clear as mudd, sorry brothers. I don't know if its the start of something I should worry about or not. The bike has 21k on it and its a FXSTC and last week was the first time I've ever heard any abby-normal noise coming from my bike.

Thanks for any help.

Sorry but can you be more clear on the noise?? is it top end, left side right side?? any thing would be more helpful. hard to help with out more info
Hey brother, I think I mentioned it sounds like its top end in my initial post...but since its only happened a few times its caught me by suprise and when I tried to start bike, then kneel down next to engine to hear it of course it didn't do it...figures. So the times its happened I was still sitting on the bike.

HDWrench, it does sound like its top end, left side and perhaps the fwd cyl, but thats with me sitting on top of the bike, so Im not 100% sure. Its not a knock or tap but like almost a low tone squeal, like one or two squeal noises in rhythm with the piston(s) as the engine shuts off. I know that sounds vague but thats the best I can explain it right now. Im going to ride it later today and get off first and get next to engine prior to shutting it off.

Check your spark plugs for proper orque and for damage.
If you also have erratic idle problems or drivability problems, check the intake manifold seals with propane (unlit) from the nozzle of a torch. Just open the flow control and aim it at the intake seals, from about 1-2 inches away. if the idle quality improves, replace the seals.

Take a real close look. It could be a head gasket just starting to leak.
Chief, the only oil leak, which is very small, is coming from the rocker box gasket, don't know if that can cause an intermittent weird noise or not. As I said, it does sound like its following the last couple of revolutions after the engine has shut down. Almost like a belt squeal...sumpin like that. I can hear it in my head....can't y'all hear it, lol.
