Need quieter exhaust 07 FLHRI

07 FLHR
My wife rides a 07 Road king. Currently I'm using a power commander, K+N stg 1 A/C, and 2-1 Supertrapp Exhaust, 21 dics w/ end cap. This is setup according to the PC map for those pipes and A/C. My wife is starting to have hearing loss from the present exhaust, discounted air turbulence; and contribute it mostly from the constant noise from long day rides. We've I've considered to just replace the 2-1 pipes w/ the stock head pipes and mufflers. Is there a mod to the 2-1's, different total system, or mufflers, or just replace w/ stock. Would I loose too much performance If I was to go w/ stock system, and if so; can and should I remove the Powercommander, even keeping the K+N A/C ? The O2 sensors have been caped off w/the present 2-1 system and set up by the PC download.

thanks;

Supertrapps are failry quiet I would suggest going back to stock if it bothers her. Does she wear ear plugs on long rides?
Allways use ear plugs on all rides; as I do too. She uses a 3/4 helmet. If keep the 2-1; I probably should call supertrapp, and dynojet to find the best configuration for # of discs, and map for balance of low end torque and HP for a close to styock setup. Powewrcommanders only map is for 18 discs w/ stock A/C.

Why don't you just pull some of those discs out? Maybe go down to 15 and try it. That should quiet it down a lot. That's why SuperTrapp made all those muffs like that-to be able to open it up when wanted for less back pressure and more noise or to quiet it down by just adding or taking away discs. A friend of mine has a Supertrapp 2 into 1 exhaust on his bike and it is pretty quiet when he's not on the throttle but when he gets on it the noise goes way up.

As far as stock Harley exhaust performance goes, I think they perform pretty good for normal riding conditions. Some of the good aftermarket systems will give you a significant boost in the mid to upper rpm range but the stock system's extra backpressure actually helps low end power.

How ever you go on this any changes to exhaust may also point to a different map for your Power Commander.

Also the easiest solution for this by far would be for your wife to wear ear plugs when on long trips like Paulie said. I run 'em all the time, even around town. If her helmet leaves her ears exposed to the air blast (like in a half helmet) that will cause ringing and possible permanent damage to the ears. I speak from experience here. With certain ear plugs it quiets the exhaust and air noise but still allows you to hear fairly well.
I'm still working on minor troubleshooting minor problems, but I just installed new Supertrapp baffle and packing 3 times longer than came w/ this pipe back in 2002. I started it and still is loud with 20 discs. If I reduce the # of discs, I'de have to adjust the AFR (air,fuel,ratio), or lean out the fuel mixture, and can easily be done w/ the buttons on the Power commander. The range of performance can be felt by changing the# of discs and running the bike. Can I use a AFR Sniffer inserted in a drilled end cap, and adjust as bike is running? I'm not sure if it should be done under load in gear, as on a dyno. Can the correct AFR. be achieved w/o a dyno run?
if I go to stock exhaust, the only PC map is also using stock air filter. I'm presently using a K+N stg 1 A/F. With the stock exhaust, and using the 15-028-019 map (stock exhaust and A/F), Should I go back to stock A/F? Shouldn't there be enough restriction to use the K+N w/ the stock pipes to run w/ stock map. Is there any advantage to even using the PC3 w/ stock set-up?
