I have 92 heritage classic. The vin number off motor is Star-bjln03663-star. Harley says it's not there's. The two owners before me never did work to it but somehow has a 4" piston and all stock Evo gaskets fit it. Anyone know how to figure out what brand motor, size, make, model, anything off that vin number? This is killing me.

I just found this online. My bike is a 92 but it has the 9 digit vin. This is odd.

Determine whether your model was made before or after 1981. Before 1981, a Harley's VIN would be 9 digits or so. After 1980, Harley VIN number should be 17 digits. Harleys made during the 1960s and earlier can have VINs of 11 characters or more, but never as many as 17

Well I actually decifered the code and it came back to my bike. The year, model, motor size, etc. The odd thing though is up until 1981 they were 9 digit vins, after that they are 17. Mine is a 92 with a 9 digit code so thats why its weird, but like I said it all matched up correctly. I contacted S&S once before and they said their 4" piston big bore kits would bolt up to stock case, but I do not remember if I gave them the number. I'll give it a shot though and see what they say. Thanks
