I picked up a luggage rack for my heritage, the instructions say to remove the stock screws for the sissy bar, it doesnt look like i can gat to the bottom ones without taking off the whole rail assembly. for anybody thats ever done this, is it a pain in the ass, or does it just look like it ? any tips ? Thanks

I too just bought a rack. I fully intended to put it on by myself. The instructions are lame. Plus, it will take another trip to the tool store for another torx wrench. Sure as hell doesn't look very easy. I'm not a wrench, but I don't have the patience for this mod. Of course, unless someone has a quick way to put it on. I'm either going to return it or pay the stealer one hour worth of labor. HD could have made it much easier, but that wouldn't have made them as much money.

The 4 bolts that hold your brackets on to the fender braces, take a torx 45.. take out the back two and loosen the two front. OH YEAH, first take some towels and lay them on your rear fender to prevent any scratching..
Tilt the sissy bar up and forward and you should then be able to take off the 4 sissy bar screws to install your rack..... Your sissy bar screws take a Torx 27....
