I saw a lowering bracket in the new issue of Thunder Press; it will lower the bike 1 or 1 1/2 inches. This is great, but the kit costs 118 bucks. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this for less. I'm no cheap skate but if you seen the bracket they offer for the price, you'd laugh too. Thanks

If its the White Bros. kit I have it. The next option is to put lower shocks on. The 188 bucks doesnt look so bad now does it? Easy to install and makes a big difference. I also put the 2 inch lower springs in the forks.

This is all well and good if your not aggressive in the twisties. I am. My freind put in the H-D lower rear shocks (1"?) and drags his boards alot chasing me on my stock RK. Once I saw the whole ass end of his bike pick up and he almost high-sided.
Aside from that, it looks alot cooler lowered!!

Lowering an 02' Roadking Classic

How tall are you guys? I'm handicapped at 5'7" lololol and just bought an 02 FLHRCI. Until I took it out the other day, I didn't think I would hve to lower it. Know one seems to make a kit for the Classic unless you want to ruin your bags by dicken around with the mounts and I'm afraid to switch out the shocks for 440's for fear of scraping on corners as well as "bottoming out" on bumps. Any solutions for keeping the ride nice but lowering enough to have my feet planted firmly on the ground enough to back her up? LOL

I feel you on your pain (being short). I have the same handicap. ;) Anyhoo.. I lowered my bike the next day after purchase. -1" inch kit for the front and replacement -1" shocks for the rear. It was kind of pricey due to having a local "famous" wrench do it. If you go this route, attempt to do the job yourself. Save money bigtime!! I dont have any trouble on curves as of yet. Then again, im not trying to either. Another thing you might want to look into is the Corbin Solo (close) seat. I also have Wild1 Chubbby's 508's. That combo hit the sweet spot for me. Good luck!!

Off Topic: Wurkenman, you got any more pictures of your scoot? Im getting ready to put the same kit on my Classic. Any regrets? Nice scoot!

Lower the front, instead. It's higher than the rear to start with.
I used Ness 2" shorter dampener rods in my forks. $50 or so.

shorter shocks

I put one inch shorter progressive shocks on my 01 road king, and now when I ride two up and hit small bumps or dips, the back fender hits the tire. Don't know how to solve this, short of putting the stock shocks back on.

Progressive 440's. 12", 3 1/2 turns on the collar solo, 4 turns two up.

I had the White Brothers lowering kit on my 2k RK. Looked great until I started to ride the twisties pretty hard going back to old Wis back in 2003. Just about had to weld metal on the bottom of the floor boards so that I had something to put my feet on.

To make a long story short, they do make the scooter look cool and all..but, the pucker factor was getting old. Yeah, I know, I'm old too, but when I got both brain cells working almost at the same time, I do like the twisties.

Anyway, I've got the kit on the shelf with all the other stuff that I thought I had to have.
Flatline.

You must have used the HD spring model??

I purchased the 12" originally. After talking with Progressive (they are only 15 miles from me) they exchanged them for 12 1/2 " ones. They were better, but still too harsh for Connie (she has Fibromyalgia, and is rather sensitive to the ride).

I then put new air shocks (factory) and they seem better. Miss the lowered part though.

My bike is lowered 1" in front and 2" in back (Progressive shocks) and I've bottomed out many times - the ride can definitely be rough. Even dented the front fender in a couple places and ended up rupturing a disc in my back from hitting a pothole. It looks awesome though! :roflback: (There's a picture in my profile if you want to take a look).

any info on the tj kit for an 02 classic

My wife needs to lower her 02 RK Classic. We have read many posts and see lots of options. Really like the TJ lowering kit. Has anyone used the TJ kit on the rear of an 02 classic. Their site says some bags need to be spaced. Any info on this? I read a post that installed the kit on a 01 with no probs, but I think there is some difference between the 01-02.
We will be doing the rear first, so any info on this kit would be a big help.
Thanks
