Am I completely wrong in that the shift linkage (mid controls) is mainly for foot control placement and not so much on the actual ability of the bike to find gears/neutral smoothly?
I'm having trouble finding neutral after pulling the inner primary to replace the shifter rod. Took a good guess on its position on the main shaft. Also guessed where the shift lever should be. ( I used muscle memory for that one) With the bike on the jack, I added a quart of Mobil 1 in the primary, down to the last drop. Too much? Try ATF? Then, as per the book and your posts, adjusted the clutch.
The primary chain has about 1/2+ play. Thats less than before I took it apart. Too tight?
It grabs at half way out and pulls like a bitch, so I dont think its the clutch it self.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
