Kickstand Spring Installation - help!

I have an '05 custom fatboy and I need to replace my kickstand spring. The bike has been lowered, and the spring on their now is worn to the point where the kickstand will drag when turning corners, etc. I have purchased a new spring, but for the life of me cannot extend it enough to have it line up on the mount hole on the stand itself. There must be a trick to this, what is the best way to get enough leverage to get this done? What makes it hard is the angle you have to achieve with the spring hook to get it into the hold on the stand.

well, i just hooked a screw driver on each end of the new spring and tried to stretch it with another person and it is extremely difficult to pull it enough to get a nickel, dime, or quarter into a groove. Also, to the other post, we did try to take the kickstand off the mount itself but it still meant the spring had to be stretched at least an inch to get it back into the mount properly. Could not make that work either. There must be an easier way!

interesting. I will need to try this later when a friend is over to help but it would appear this makes the ends the spring hooks on to a little closer together to I dont have to stretch it so far. Its still a bugger to stretch it at all.
