This has probably been covered, but I have noticed the last several times I've been out, that when making a slow turn on my '09 Ultra, such as in a parking lot, there is a noticeable vibration. I stopped at my local HD dealer, where I bought the bike, and they looked at my front tire, a Dunlop D407F.
They said that was the problem, and readily agreed to replace it with a new D408F for free, including mouting labor. Anyone else have this issue?

I'm not sure, but the service mgr asked me if I had received anything in the mail from MoCo about it - which I had not. I asked if it was an actual factory recall, and it didn't sound like it was. I got the feeling that it wasn't a true recall, but if you brought it to the attention of the dealer, they know of the issue, and will take care of it. Anyone have more info? I also think it is limited to the 2009 models, but not sure.

Every brand of motorcycle tire has an issue of one type or another from time to time. Some effect all tires others only some.
The early 2009's has a wear issue Dunlop replaced them problem solved. Tires were marked wrong so the were turning on wrong direction.Sounds to me like dealer is doing right by you and taking care of it.

I also have an 09 and there seems to be some type of wobble when turning.
I am interested in seeing if my local dealer will replace it, but I am not the original owner, just picked it up a couple of months ago and is out of warranty.

I guess I will have to take it down there and see.

Thanks everyone for the info

some of the early 09 touring bikes were manufactured with tripple trees that were out of tolerance which causes a wobble doing tight turns and also makes it impossible to make extremely tight left hand turns, 18 ft. The moco offered to replace the tt on cop bikes but not on civilian bikes saying that we werent supposed to ride as well as motorcops , like my butt is not as important. I felt as though my 09 was unsafe and traded it for 10 model and they were night and day difference. The tire upgrade will help some of the vibration at highway speed and also stop the cupping problem but will not fix the wobble at low speed parking lot maneuvers.

Keep an eye on the D408 also, my son just had a warranty replacement on one of those. It developed little U shaped or football shaped tears where the three legs of the Y tread pattern join. Then the little chunks began to come out The little tears were at each Y all the way around the tire. It got bad enough to wobble at about 4600 miles.

It may be that the 408 has a different, but recurring problem, much as did the 407.

D407 vs D408 - I was on a ride with friends when one of them said my front tire was put on backwards. The rotation was reversed.... So I checked it out on the Dunlop web site. The D407F (which I have) shows I have it on correct but the opposite tire rotation as the D408F. It appears to be the same tread design on both... I'm confused but wonder if this could be part of the D407 issues. Anyone else check this out?
