I know this has been :dh: to death. For you guys who have had the speakers for a while now are the all they are cracked up to be? Also, are they 2 ohm speakers or 4 ohm? Thanks for the input.

No Input?? Here's the deal. I have a set of Polk Audio's installed right now but they are rated for 4 ohms. They sound decent but turn up too far and they distort. I don't want to put money into an amp because I'd rather put towards performance. However, some threads have been really praising the affordable Harley Boom speakers and was wondering if those who have them would buy them again or go with another speaker.

I went from the stock speakers to the 1st generation Hog Tunes and now have the Boom!™ Audio Ultra Boom!™ Bagger Kit (with amp & bass ports). I'm thrilled with the sound and wouldn't consider anything else.

Yes, I realize there are a lot of factors that determine if a system meets your needs (hearing loss (if any), helmet (if you wear one), quality of music (bit rate if MP3), etc. The system is pricey but we're talking about enhancing what already is an expensive toy.

I put "boom"in all four corners, plus hog tunes tweeter pod, I love them, but might get a amp down the road

Just my opinion, but doesn't it seem more practical to go with earphones rather than outdoor speakers? Those that have to compete with wind noise, engine noise, etc? Not only that its annoying when stopped at a gas station or where ever when someone pulls up on their bike blasting Kenny Rogers? First thing I think of is "dork" and the next is "shut that fiffen thing off stupid". At a dealer once the same thing happened, I couldn't hear what the service manager was telling me in the parking lot, so is it for the benefit of the rider or is he just trying to piss off the world?

I don't think it's more pracitcal or better. Volume on the HK Stereos adjust to speed of bike. So volume is down when you stop. A lot of people don't like riding with earplugs or earphones, wires hanging etc. and in some states it's illegal too, I believe. Anyone blasting any kind of music in a public place is either a kid, dork, dumb a.., jerk, high, drunk, inconsiderate................. Some people just aren't going to understand, it's not just about themselves.

I don't like the earbud setup because I still want to be able to hear traffic around me just in case an emergency vehicle is close and I can't see it but still can hear it. I went ahead and purchased the Boom Speakers and so far they sound great. The Polk Audios were 4 ohm so I had to turn the volume way up to hear them. With the Boom Speakers I barely turn the volume up and it's loud. I'm about positive they come with the titanium cone drivers. I'll know better how much I like them once I put some miles on the bike.

I am late to the discussion but I had the Polk 4 ohm speakers installed on the front and like another poster said before, you had to turn them up to hear them and there was distortion at the high end of the volume. The Polks (as I found out were 4 ohm)
so I decided to go with the 2 ohm Boom speakers. I installed them about a month ago and it is like night and day. The Booms have a much cleaner, crisper sound, the volume is much greater and there is no distortion at all.
That is the best $150 I ever spent. I highly recommend them.

I can 2nd that motion. They sound so much better than the Polk 4 ohm speakers. Don't distort when turned up.

Well...I love my music loud...I want to be able to hear it loud and clear at highway speeds. I installed an amp, Alpine 6-1/2" speakers, and a set of tweeters...When I am in town or stopped at a light, I do turn it down....Leave the light, and up she goes....I have seen many good posts on the boom speakers, but I havent heard any myself... Enjoy............

I went from stock speakers on my 10 SG to Hogtunes speakers. It was a nice improvement over stock. I just purchased a set of Boom! speakers and they should be in today. If so Ill install tonight and post back tomorrow what the results are compared to stock and hog tunes. From everything Ive read Boom should be night and day over stock and considerably better than Hogtunes.
We'll find out soon enough.

Did my Boom speaker install last night. Took for a quick test ride and they sounded very good. I think I would compare the three in this order. Hogtunes is a significant upgrade over Stock. Boom is is up over hogtunes. I think mainly because Boom has the little tweeter in speaker.
I have a set of hogtunes for sale in the classifeds
$75 shipped to lower 48. New hogtunes go for 109.95 plus shipping. at $75 this is a great bang for buck mod.
