Hi all y'all, I have been wondering what people think about batteries for their rides. Seems many post in the past have suggested OEM from Harley but are their any choices that may be a step up (in terms of longevity, etc.) . Probably will need one again in their next year or so for my 2003 Fatboy. Thanks, Greg

I had a YUASA YTX20-BS regular AGM battery in a '96 ST that I ran for a documented 17 years; only thing ever did was trickle charge it monthly during the off-season. I replaced it with the identical about 18 months ago. Plenty of CCA and flawlessly reliable. I'll never buy another brand or type of battery.

I made the switch to the lithium batteries and have been very happy with the results. I use Antigravity brand. Huge cranking amps and very slightly higher voltage it cranks the big bore high compression engines with authority. Leas acid type batteries all self discharge over a short time so you have to keep on trickle charge with lithium you don't have to. Put it away in winter fires right up in spring. Less than 1/4 of the weight as well. Only down side you will need a special charger but not a big deal and the battery costs a lot more. Think mine was like $375.00 hower their life cycle is much longer like 6-7 years I've been told. Had mine a year and a half. I got the one with reserve. With reserve let's say you leave the ignition on and it shuts itself off with plenty left to start the bike. Just push the reset button on the top.

From what I remembered there are really only 3 Battery makers for vehicles and motorized epuipment.

That was a few years back, so I asked Google and as of May 20th 2019 there still is aftermarket batteries sold in the states made by 3 companies-Johnson Controls, which supplies more than half of the market;-- Exide; --and East Penn.

What I've done the last 10 years or so is just looked for the best warranty.
