I want to install some speakers/radio on my FXST. Wanted to get some opinions before I decide. I can't find any anywhere so that I could try them out first and hear them. So far I have seen the pictures of the rumble road, J & M deluxe, and tank system from JC Whitney. How do they sound? Where did you get them from? Would you buy it again? etc

I just got an XM-MyFi that I want to connect to the speakers/radio.

Hey Txlaw...I'm looking to do the same for my Heritage. I just got my XM MyFi last week too! I haven't had a chance to check it out yet (it's kind of a X-mas present for my hubby, but I plan on using it too...lol). How do you like it? Is it all that it was hyped up to be? I sure hope so for $350! Have you had any problems with it so far?

I haven't made a final decision on speakers yet. I have seen and heard the J&M set-up on a RoadKing. I thought it looked good (didn't seem too cluttered on the handlebars) and the sound was excellent...and this guy has some loud-@ss pipes too! He uses it with an iPod and I thought it worked great. The iPod sits in his left saddlebag (he had them run the wires to his saddlebag..the wires are completely hidden too). I like the J&M because they have a seperate volume-control which is mounted on the left handlebar. The Rumble Road speakers have no volume-control...it has to be controlled by the "playing" device. I don't think I like that idea...especially if it's in a pocket or a bag somewhere and you don't have easy access to it. I've also been told that the J&M's are a much better quality of speaker...although they are a lot priceier than the others. My only hesitation about getting them is...I'm not sure how they will look on my handlebars. Remember...I saw them on a ROAD KING...which has a much wider and lower handlebar than the stock bars on my Heritage.

By the way...I've found this place to be among the cheapest for the J&M's.

I got the MyFi activated. My #4 button does not work? Will have to exchange for another after Christmas since these seem hard to find lately. I tried it at the office downtown and it worked great w/o an additional antenna. Tried to use it once the other day on the bike. I put it in my jacket pocket and clipped the antenna to my collar. This did not work to well. The antenna needs to face southwest and when I was going west the signal was sporadic. The earphones did not feel comfortable and the volume needed to be constantly adjusted depending on my speed, which meant I was jacking with it while doing 70 on IH-10. Not fun. I finally clipped the antenna to my clutch cable, the reception was better. I got home stuck the antenna to the top of the windshield with the suction cup. I also bought headphones that clip over the ear and a CD case attached to the tank panel. I will try this set up when it warms up a little. The XM is great. I've had it since they first started and have not looked back. (never listened to sirius) However, only had XM in the truck. MyFi works great in the house with the home antenna and I finally have been listening to XM on my home theater system. The home setup is "quieter" so I have to turn the stereo up more than a regular CD, DVD but no problem. I have not tried the FM Modulator, don't really know how it works ditto with the "recorder".

After my first trial run I definately want a setup that will easily adjust the volume. JM already has the volume switch included. I was leaning more towards the rumble speakers but the do not include the volume control and they run about $300 but they do have an audio box that can be added (which is about the size of an altoids tin) that will control volume bass, treble...., for about 2-300 more. so both would be about the same price

Yes, I remember reading that the Rumble Roads were Blaupunkt speakers...and "heard" on this and other forums that the Blaupunkts were not as high quality as the J&M. I don't consider myself to be a "stereo geek", so I have no idea on what speakers are high quality, so I rely on the personal experience and information I've read from other folks that have them.

I had always seen the "audio box" on their website...just didn't know what it was for...but I do now. Duh!! :D

Thanks for the feedback on the MyFi...it will come in handy when we get ours going. Oh...one more thing. If you're looking for some good quality earbud speakers in the meantime before you get your permanment setup...I've heard that the these can't be beat:
