Harley has an M8 oil pump issue and they are down playing it. There is already a revised oil pump, which is probably what you'll be getting.

Not sure exactly what the issue is, but the lack of oil in the cam chest would suggest that yours is not lifting oil from the sump. Others have reported having too much oil in the cam chest.

As for other damage, probably not. since it was pumping enough to put the light out above idle. A bore scope would tell the tail on the jugs.

I had 140 mi. on my 2017 Road glide ultra
& oil light cam on at idle took it to dealer.
They said it it was pressure relief valve only
opening 50% they put in new & improved one.
And 5,000 Mi. later no problems. Good fix!

Are you sure they didn't say that it was stuck 1/2 open?

Only opening 1/2 way would be a high pressure issue at speed and when cold.

That makes about the 12th 117 kit I've heard of that sumps too bad to ride.

Some folks are getting new 107's and their kit money refunded. So make a fuss.
