I redone top end , new rings and gaskets. The front cylinder has 25 pounds of compression rear has 160. The head were cleaned and install new valve steam seats. Rear cylinders great, front not. I see the valves move in the front cylinder up and down both intake and exhaust. The push rods spin turn easily also the are OEM stock pushrods to. The machine shop did both heads. I'm so lost on this. I took the front jug apart rings are ok and fitted right. Valves are closed on the head. Don't see no light around the seats. Any advice? Thanks. Would a collapse lifter cause low compression of 25?

Do you have the front head back on the engine? If so, squirt some oil in the cylinder and see if the compression comes up. If so, then the problem could be in the rings. If not, look elsewhere.

The valves might be totally closed when the head is off the engine, but when put back together, something is keeping the valve/s open. You say you are using the stock pushrods...might be they were mixed up when assembled.

Might not have had the front head torqued properly, but that would have to be pretty loose to only have 25 lbs.

I got it. I did it wrong on first cylinder lesson learn. I'm glad I check it. I have 125 front and 125 rear after top end redone. Head was cleaned and valves reseated also. Stock motor all i have. Thank you. Compression is good at 125 with new rings?

What did you do wrong? What caused 1 cyl8jder to gain 100# and the other to lose 35#? Did you get the push rods in the wrong locations? You are a little confusing,, stock motor? 88 cubic inch?
It will run ok with 125psi,,, 165 would be better, but, it is what it is at this point,,, comp may increase once the engine gets broken in a bit?

I feel stupid, i was suppose to bring piston up top dead center then put front head on bring the pushrods down valves to be close. I didn't do that. I had a space installing the head I'm stupid [emoji849][emoji849] I'm learning won't do that again. I'm lucky I didn't hurt anything but my pride lol. The rear head I got lucky it was TDC. I didn't know. That what i did. Yes the motor is stock EVO 1988 SOFTAIL I just redone the upper end I had base gaskets leaking bad, 35,000 miles on it original. Now I have 125 psi both cylinders. Thank you
