'04 Fuel Tank Cap not sealing well

While riding yesterday I looked down at my fuel gage tank cap only to see it bouncing around like the lid on a tea pot. I pushed it back into the tank but it would not seal very well. When I got home I put a few dabs of silicone adhesive on the plastic liner and now it is in there real good. Anybody else experience a poor fit with their cap?
Also noticed a black plastic keeper of some sort dangling from the wire under the tank. Must have come loose from somewhere when I had the cap off while applying the sealant but I couldn't see where it was supposed to go so I just connected it to two portions of the wire and stuck it up under the tank as best I could.

The 04 Lowrider gas caps are the same as previous models, this is a common thing, though some caps don't do it. I had an 03 LR and I don't remember if it did, but I've had other caps on other bikes that did and one of my bikes I still have does this. it's not really a problem. If it is a pet peeve, sometimes something as easy as changing the cap can eliminate the problem. I would stay away from using silicone or anything else near the gas tank, if you happen to get a chunk of that stuff in there you might end up with a more serious problem.
