yet another cam question

So I've been reading a lot of the posts in this forum about various cams/engine builds, etc and what I've learned is that I have a lot to learn. So here's my dilema: I ride a 2001 FXST, carbed with a Ness Big Sucker and a Thunderheader. I weigh 200 lbs and ride solo 99% of the time with no bags or extra gear. My engine is stock except for the above mentioned mods. I would like to change over to a gear driven cam that will work well with the stock engine but also leave the option open for a big bore build later down the road. I'm pretty set in my desire for a geared cam as I don't want to ever worry about cam chain tensioners going south on me. I live in Northern Calif. with relatively low humidity and fairly stable weather. I ride mostly backroads, but the freeway is a necessity to get to some of the primo riding areas around here. Primarily, I would like more passing power on the interstate. I'm thinking Andrews 37g. Your thoughts?

Are you going to do head work?
Stock heads for now. Down the road, I'm thinking of getting the heads flowed. Here's where my ignorance kicks in: What kind of performance differences are there between getting flowed heads and just getting them ported?
Ported and Flowed have kind of become interchangeable terms for performance head work. The 37G is a good recommendation, especially if you are planning to go to 95" in the future. You will need to get your compression ratio up a bit to really get the full benefit of the 37, and ALL performance mods respond better with headwork on a twincam. Bigboyz heads on this forum have become popular and are inexpensive. Dewey is back in business, too, and is a master with the 37 / head combo. Makes over 100 TQ and close to 100HP with the 37 and his headwork. www.deweyscustoms.com

He sure looks pissed in that picture... but then if I had hair like that I'd be pissed to.:sofa:
Just to let everyone know, the photo has been digitally altered by our friend on the forum here known as rpbrock. He has another one where he is bald as a cueball. rpbrock is trying to fix up Deweys image a bit as in real life either the AFRO or the CUEBALL photo is a real improvement!!!
