Odd issue at least for me.

My bike won't start.

I turned it on this morning....The fuel pump primed like normal...hit the start button.....it clicked once and then died.

Now the pump won't prime and the starter button yields nothing.

No start...no click....no nothing. Lights come on...everything appears normal but obviously it isn't.

Any thoughts?

Battery is toast....I have it on the charger now.

The headlight and dash lights come on....if I have enough voltage for that...shouldn't it at least click the starter?

I've had a dead battery before and it would at least click.

Thoughts?

Takes a bunch more power for the starter vs lights. If it were me I'd get the battery to full charge & then get it load tested.

I don't think it's that easy.

On the charger I have battery voltage of approximately 12.8 volts.

It should at least click or prime the pump.

It does neither.

I figured it out....the fuses were the first thing I checked...along with connections etc...all the usual dummy stuff.

I had checked every single fuse visually...and they all looked ok at first glance. I went back and rechecked with a meter and found the ignition fuse was blown....when I took it out it appeared to be intact but if you looked very, very closely...you could see the break.

It's always the simple stuff.

:woohoo:

Thanks all.

Glad to see it was easy for you.......Oh just thought, in a non related matter. You got the battery cable routing recall done i hope....

Hows the bike doing otherwise? Any new cool additions to it?

Understood....I told ya that visually it was ok...I thought that would cover it...but not on this one.

I know it's blown now and I'd still say it was ok to look at it.

Either way...it's fixed....and man it'd been toooooo long since stretching that thing out...and I gotta say...it felt good.

One telltale test for the battery...
I noticed you asked a question about ...if your lights work shouldn't you at least get a click....here's a question to answer...
IF you have your headlights on & you try to start the engine, do the headlights die?
IF so, it could well be the battery.
IF not, it could be something in the start ckt.
Also, if you trip the starter at the START RELAY, does it turn over?
If so, then the battery is probably good & it's the start ckt beyond the start relay.
