Test drove a Fat Boy yesterday and today for 200 mi.. Had a few hours left on my rental so I changed out for a RK. The feeling of BIG went away pretty quick and I really enjoyed the smmoth cruising on the freeway. Around town, at slower speeds, the RK rubber mount engine does vibrate a whole lot more. The 88B is really smooth, but the soft tail frame doesn't give a RK ride by any means. A combo of the two would seem ideal. Anyone heard any rumors from HD about a change to the 88B.

Thanks

The 88b motor is only used in softail models and it's counterbalancers are designed to compenstate for the vibration in the rigid mounting.

There is no practical reason that they would put the counterbalanced engine in a rubber mounted application.

Besides the 'b' engine has RPM limitations due to the counterbalancers.

One man's Humble Opinion

I prefer the UN-balanced TC in my '02 FLHTCI. With the rubberized engine mounts it has, I experience no vibrations off idle.

I've ridden a TC88B, and prefer the touring setup.

I like the idle *shake* it has. Wouldn't have it any other way. Makes it a Harley...
