Hi everyone,
I’d like to change the bars on my 04 Fatboy, but being on the other side of the world it’s not possible to walk into a store and compare different ones, so I’m hoping to get some hands on advice here. I’m 5’8”, with a Lepera Daytona Sport seat and looking at the Wild 1’s site trying to decide between the Road King 508’s and 518’s. (Due to a lower back problem, I don’t think the 504”s would offer enough pullback for me) I’m leaning towards the 518’s and was hoping to hear from anyone similar in height to me who may have had either on a Fatboy.
Thanks,
John

I'm 5'9" and got the 518's because I didn't think the 508's would have enough pullback also. The 518's are almost perfect.

If the lepera moves you closer, then 518's should be ok. If it moves you back, you'll be reaching a bit.

I'll only add that what is comfortable to someone may not be to another.

Just ordered a set of 504's this morning.. Local dealer had a bike in for service, fatboy with 504's, and they really looked nice.. I think they will be fine, anything has to be better than stock fatboy bars.. Stock RK bars are pretty bad too.
I looked at the 508/518 bars seriously but I do not want to change my cables at this time.. Personally the 508 bars are too "beach bar" for me..

Go to the Wild1 website and look around.. They have lots of pics of bikes with different bars and some comparison shots of stock/new bar combo's. They have a pic of 508 bars on top of 518 for a nice comparison shot..

What I found is the pics do not do the bars justice......

I have 504's on my Heritage, basically the same bike as yours. They are perfect for me but I'm 6' 2". Almost bought the 518's but the tech at
Wild1 talked me out of it because they would have too much pull back for me.
They might be just right for you.

I've Goit 518s

I've got 518s on ny 2003 Heritage. Also have danny Gray solo. I'm 5' 10" and they fit me fine. Was thinking about 508s and Wild 1 recommended 518 - thought I would find them more comfortable. Should call them they are pretty good at answering questions on reach/size.

Thanks for the replys. For anyone in a similar situation, I emailed Wild 1 and they got back to me straight away:
Johnny,
I would recommend the W0518 due to the fact that they were made for the
Road King which has a longer frame.
It will let you sit straight up and your elbows will be bent for a
relaxed feeling.
If you have any further questions please call.
Thank you for choosing Wild 1,
Johnny Vaughn

So I've ordered the 518's. When they get here in 3 weeks I'll know if I made the right choice.
