Weird Whistling Sound

1329 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Brand'd
Getting on the highway yesterday after riding around the hills two up I heard this strange noise in 1st through 3rd gear. After that I couldn't hear it because of wind and exhaust noise. It was more of a whistling sound vs a whine at least to my ears. Went with the RPM's. Pretty much matching my throttle and shifts. Sounded like the Primary side. Didn't do it when I got home sitting in the driveway or on the surface streets going home. Only when I jumped onto the hwy and had to get up to speed. I still suspect primary but maybe motor. Any thoughts?

No kidding that's exactly what my 86 Toyota 4X4 Turbo sounded like in the radio! LOL!
Could it be from the front axle? I mean from wind running across the hole on the right side when the hole is oriented upright instead if horizontal to the ground. Like a whistle.

Nah, it's coming from the side and raises and lowers with the rpms.
