if you go to the Wild One site, they have a page that lists recommended cable lengths. i just went with stainless steel braided as opposed to the diamond back ones. HD has not come out with the diamond back ones yet in all the needed lengths. Here is the link to the page.

not mean to hijack, but anyone know when the diamondback series will get more length options? i "need" +4 lengths and they are not available yet. any other manufacturers that are really good?

Magnum Chromite has a +3" cable.

Be careful. Wild 1 will tell you that you can use the stock cables. You can but they are tight. Also, watch the clutch cable. I used the stock clutch cable when I had my 518 bars on and when the handlebars were turned all the way to the right, it pulled on the crimp connection where it goes into the tranny and finally made it leak.

I would use +3" cables all they way around.

HD is pleading the 5th on this. I tried in vain to find out and could never get a straight answer. I finally went with the stainless braided in +4. Good luck.
I went +4 on all cables when I had the 518's. Check out www.hdbikeparts.com. Johnny will fix you up with what you need.
What do you lube them with? I have heard bike aid stains the inside.
I got the Chubby Knuckle Bars WO503 with stock length braided cables, Barnett clutch, idle and throttle and Goodridge braided brake lines. From www.discountcycleparts.com. Got a real good price and had em in 2 days.:woohoo:
Just installed 518's on my FLHRCI. Went w/HD 4+ brake line and std length clutch cable. HD does not offer a 4+ throttle/idle cable for my '01 so I had them order it custom cut from Barnett. Barnett (Goodrige) makes the braided lines for HD. They look great and are just the right length. IMO, I would not suggest going any shorter.

You will love the bars! Like cruising down the road in your easy chair. Handles much better than stock too.
