Hi,
When I started my 1995 Electra Glide this morning, smoke started pouring out of the left side of the engine near the bottom front of the shift linkage. I shut down the engine, and when the smoke cleared I was able to see that where two wires go from the voltage regulator into the crankcase the boot was melted. See the photo. I slid the boot out of the way, cleaned up the area, and when I restarted the bike the smoke billowed again from where the wires go into the crankcase. What is that part, and does anyone know what's going on? Did I fry my electrical system by restarting the bike to try to identify the source of the smoke?
Thanks,
Kerpdog
