Well, I took the plunge and upgraded my 84 FLHTC clutch release - the notorious early style 'finger' release that a lot of folks have had issues with - to a later model 87 ball and ramp set-up.

Total investment about 450.00
Total time for rebuild; less than 4 hours.

Went fairly easy. I used a trap door remover from Georges Garage Tools, which by the way made life worth living. Bolted on the JIMS billeted trap door (show chromed) and a new clutch cable and side cover.

Felt better right away. Easy pull. Worth the effort. Less anxiety.

This is prolly worth writing up a step by step post on, maybe include a few part numbers.

Most people don't even know that you can pull the trap door and leave the gear set in the scooter.
