on friday the 7th, i caught a plane for missoula montana to start my trip of a lifetime. the weather was nice............friday. when i woke up saturday, it was raining in missoula, and snowing in the surrounding passes. well, i make it to tingley's shop and pick up my scoot, along with some crash bars and a set of bags.....no shield. sunday morning i head out of missoula, south bound for jackson, wy some 450 miles away. arrive before dark and find a motel six. depart the next morning headed for denver. the weather was clear, but around 38 degrees in the mountains. it gradually warmed up and i found myself in the most beautiful landscapes i had ever seen. absolutely breath taking. made it to laramie wy before i found another motel six. woke up tuesday morning and headed south for denver. arrived in denver around 2 in the afternoon. holed up in denver for a couple of days to see a concert and visit with family. headed out thursday morning and made 550 miles before stopping in salina, ks. left ks on friday and made it to little rock before dark. left little rock saturday at 0700 and arrived in yazoo city ms at 1100. when i finally got to vicksburg that evening, i had right at 2350 miles on the odometer. and i had made it.
a trip that was conceived back in march had now become a fond memory and a statement to myself about the years to come.
i enjoyed every minute of every day and met some great folks on the highway. i saw both interstate travel as well as the country back roads and have decided i love the windy country roads. if there is anything that would have made the trip more comfortable, it would have been some highway pegs on the crash bars, a windshield, and an fm radio for the lond stretches of colorado and kansas interstates. im glad to be back home and cherish the memories i have made over the last 10 days. no i have to find some folks to ride with. thanx for all your advice and direction, it came in handy out there in the wild blue yonder.

I am just interested in what you meant by uneasy rider? Did something happen to make you feel uneasy. I have LOVED riding for the past 3 years. After a Sunday afternoon ride following my husband, I got a little frightened as he was riding way too fast down a two lane highway that has construction work being done on it and a lot of traffic where cars are turning off going into subdivisions and businesses. I (like an idiot) ran a red light once trying to keep up with him. I felt like it was too much going on to watch out for all the possibilities at the speed he was traveling. That's been about two months ago and I think I am about to get over it. I hope to go on a long trip soon and I think it would be the thing to really get me over the fright.
