Before you do it, double-check a parts book 'cause the light bar is attached with some screws that are concealed by that stick-on "Harley Davidson" script--at least that's what's behind mine.

You should see a couple of small nuts on the inside of the tour pak between the liner and the bottom shell; the screws that those nuts attach to pass through the light bar. And, are covered by the stick on script piece.

Harleypingman is right, it's covering up some bolts.

However, the trick to taking off emblems on a painted surface is dental floss. Take a long piece, wrap it on your fingers like you were flossing and working it behind the emblem. Then you just take some WD40 and clean up the remaining tape.

Floss would work...I use guitar string...any adhesive residue can than be removed with goof-off....but don't get it on the inside of the ABS, as it is not for plastics...but it will not damage clearcoat...

It occurs to me that the OP may be referring to the HD sticker on the lid. Dental floss/fishing line/etc., some slight heat from a hair dryer, and it will come off easily.

My bad; unless you have a color-matched light bar (ala SE Ultras) the light bar is unpainted plastic.

The area where the sticker is placed on the lid is covered with decorative chrome--HD's Air Wing piece. Haven't seen that HD sticker in forever.

Harley emblem

Thanks, I am talking about the harley davidson plate on the back of th tour pack, I want to replace it with a custom emblem. Thanks for the advise, I will try the dental floss. I just was not sure if it had any perment attachments. I see where the bolts would be under this but will be replacing it with a piece with with one with our names on it so the bolt heads will be covered. Thanks.

Take a look in a McMaster-Carr catalog (or on-line) seems I remember seeing similar ones in there for much less.

Ultra tour Pack

Ok I know how to to get the Harley emblem off, but now I would like to replace this with a light. I have looked but can't find anyone selling a light that fits in where the emblem is currently. This seems like a great place to add a tail and stop light combination. If anyone has seen this and knows where to get the light I would appreciate knowing. Thanks

Harley's airwing?

I hate to hijack but....looking to replace the black plastic that surrounds the tail lights on a factory tour pack. Two reasons. I have an ultra and I've relocated both antennas now I have two holes where the mast sat; second I have a candy red pack and the red brake lights get washed out. I am having trouble removing this piece and finding a replacement. Any suggestions?

vanlente, just start a new thread; this one is 13 months old.

As for your question, the black plastic and the tail lights are a single molded piece with lenses. So, unless you cut the tail light housings from the rest of the molded plastic, removing the light bar will leave you with a tour pak with holes in the corners.

You can buy bright LED's for the tail lights from ridetimetechnology.com, walter's workshop, and other vendors.

I have removed the emblem with a hair drier and a little work with a screw driver to get it where I could get a hold on one corner. It is indented in the light bar, so the string trick dose not work to well. I replaced mine with a custom plate I manufacture with my city name on it black background gold script letters. I am also developing and LED light assembly that will fit in this spot, should have product in March.

+1 on the dental floss & WD40. That combo works great.
