If it is a late model bike, they all run lean stock. Adding fuel management will make it run cooler and better That being said, if you do not mind the way it runs, you can put the Rush slip on's on, with no ill effect. Just like stock, it won't be at its peak performance, but it will do no harm.

Both dealers were right believe it or not. Dealer 1, with slip ons, it won't run any worse, as long as YOU DO NOT add extra air with a free flowing air cleaner. This changes the air/fuel micture.
Dealer 2 feels that you will get better performance by doing slip ons, fuel management and air cleaner

I agree, that the bike in STOCK form is already lean. You pretty much ought to richen it up a tad if you did NOTHING to it.

I don't know of *any* pipes that are as restrictive as the stock ones... meaning putting those Rush ones on will mean more air flow == leaner condition. I also vote for changing out the air cleaner. While stock bikes aren't *monsters* from a horsepower/torque perspective... it's one of the easiest/cheapest ways to get more air flow and thus better performance.

Last year 07 April I talked to a Rush tech. when I was deciding what size baffles to get.
Here in INDY. we have three HD dealers. One was installing up to 2 inch baffles no other mod with good luck. My dealer said I need to do SERT and SE/KN with 2"
After talking to Rush they said both are right. Pipes only, ok. If I installed new SE air them a fuel management will be needed.
This year I Have heard so are sayiing they are going with 1 3/4 inch if no other mods done.
If you have other ?'s call Rush and ask,,, just google them, they are in northern In. Service dept is really great...

what year is your bike
if it has 02 sensors you can add the slip ons and not remap

if you are after more performance, you should add the slip ons, high flow ac, and get some sort of fuel management....

Any new Harley will benefit from more fuel because of current EPA regulations

Here's my experience w/slip-ons. Had an '08 FXDC. Installed SE II baloney cuts. Bike ran exactly the same as stock. Got nervous and had factory download done w/Stage 1 AC kit, and replaced the HD hi-flo AC with K&N. Bike ran exactly the same. Wanted more, so I had SERT installed, and OMG WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Dyno'd out to 80.9 HP, and 93 ft/lbs torque! Just my .02

These are the dyno sheets and a/f readings for my Softail after only putting on the Rush 2.0 slip-on mufflers.

Note that the a/f reading are virtually identical before and after.

Air Fuel Ratio

Dyno Sheet

not a good comparison. first is light throttle from 2000 to 3000 rpm. engine stayed in clos3d loop at 14.6 to 1.

second was WOT PULL to redline, you can see the afr richening a good bit , indicating open loop.
