Hi!,

I'm slowly trying to fix something wrong with my swingarm axle.
Last summer it a bump in a road they were working on , and later that day my
rear wheel had these really severe "wobbles", so I limped home as slow as i could.
It would drive ok and then shudder and wobble for a bit and then OK.
I think I was working the swingarm axle out in hindsight.

I have not touched the swingarm axle, it's poking out from whatever happened to it.

Here's a couple of pics, I'm gonna take my time and continue with it tomorrow.
I have it to the point where the swingarm can move up and down freely.

Welp...That aint good...
is it broken?? what other side looks like??
Yer gonna need to support the tranny in order to pull all the Guts.. Lower that lift onto blocking??
I rebuilt mine with OE guts in swingarm, and New DoNuts.. Good luck finding OE stuff these days

Edit; Trying desperately to remember if I left both "Links" on the engine connected whan I did similar... But Betting No

That could be a very easy fix, really depends on what the other side looks like. In a way you are lucky as it looks like the bike is pretty much original, and the axle has probably never been out of the trans case. Many For owners encounter pivot shafts that are seized and have to go to extreme measures to get them to move. Count your blessings.

If you are really lucky, the nut and collar from the other side are still captive under the cap on the pivot block. Would be a great opportunity to remove the axle, coat it with anti seize and reassemble to spec. The next owner will thank you.

Thanks for the direction. I'm attaching a left side image, I had to pop the cap off, but that's all i did. I see there's some kinda retainer clip in there.
I hadn't considered supoorting the transmission, but that seems obvious after you mention it :)
I think I'm gonna try supporting the transmission take out the axle and put it back. (well greased)
I also have a solid FXR axle I bought on ebay. I read that the 88 might actually be 3 pieces and that might explain it unscrewed inside (or broke).

Three pieces like goat said. If you need another one let me know. Pay for the ride and you can have it. Sorry didn’t completely read the post. I see you already bought a solid one. Pull the three piece out and run the single. Good time to replace rubber mounts too
