I've owned two trikes and two two-wheelers. When our kids got old enough to travel with us I bought a trike so we'd have a spot for the kids to take turns napping while we traveled. Oh, the sacrifices of motherhood. Sigh.

After the kids were old enough to ride I went back to a two-wheeler.

After a long period of illness, during which I sold my last bike, I became healthy enough to buy another and chose a trike as my balance/reflexes aren't as sharp as they once were. That happens when you rack up the decades. ;)

I'm pretty glad to have it and not have to give up riding. There's a heck of a lot of women my age who ride rocking chairs and I'm still out on the road! So I suppose it's all in the way you look at it.

Incidently, it does stay upright on two wheels as well, as I found out last summer when an automobile cut a corner too close for comfort. Glad to have that question answered.

Looks like glorified training wheels to me too. A true trike is one thing and a sidecar has it's own type of class, but this isn't right. JMO.

I think it'd be OK to see if a trike was going to work for you, but I'd hate to be seen on one of those on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, I have said for years that when I can't keep 2 wheels up, I'm building a trike. But I don't want one of those kits...

A trike is okay if you have a problem and can't ride on two wheels. Otherwise it's just training wheels. IMO of course.

I think it's OK, for folks like me that have had 3 surgery's on their ankle and tendons; and can't hold up an 800 pound bike any more it's agood idea. A hell of a lot cheader then the other conversion options.

All those that think it ain't right just wait one of these days age and time will get you. :sofa:

I got three bikes two of them heavy and I can't ride this might just be the ticket.

Thanks for the link.

Hey, if it lets someone ride that otherwise couldn't...go for it!

Absolutely right!
I know an old fella that is wobbly on his pins and getting short on time. He has wanted a bike for 50 years but the wife always has had something else to do with the money.
When she was on her umpteenth flight to see her babies last year he picked up an old Voyager with homemade training wheels. It dosen't look like much, he dosen't look like much and wifey dear dosen't like it.
Good for him!

You know it's kinda funny. The first go-round on a trike when I was in my early thirties I took a little flack at the rallies. Didn't like it much. But it was great for traveling with kids in tow.

Now when I'm out I get the thumbs up from people who go by. Like that quite a bit better. Hee.

I can still ride on two but I have little trust for other drivers and figure I'm taking out "insurance" to ride until I am (naturally) unable to walk this way. Don't care to hasten that event. ;)
