I am thinking about switching out my silver transmission top cover for a chrome one. After checking my manuel it seems that i need to remove the starter and the oil tank. Anyone do this job yet? If so do you need to remove all that to do it or are there a few short cuts you can point me to? If its that involved i'll mostly likely wait till next winter to do it but if its pretty much an unbolt and swap i'll do it sooner.
Thanks
Paul

You'll have to remove the primary cover to remove the starter Shrike. You can swing the oil tank out the right side and set it on a box without disconnecting the hoses. I think you will be able to loosen (not remove) the oil tank to get the starter out. Once the starter is out, you should be able to get the cover off.
