Boy, did I stick my foot in my mouth, see my post of 8-19-2002 at :

2002 VROD, build date = 6-25-02 ; Damn this baby runs!

8-15-02 : 9 miles, Delivery date.
8-21-02 : 350 miles, transmission jumps out of 3rd & 4th gear, freewheeling , sometimes 3rd goes to 2nd, NOT freewheeling. Sometimes my bike feels like it is misfiring ( ie. seems to be lurching ) before this happens.
8-22-02 : Take into dealer at 8am. Dealer confirms problem and talks to Milwaukee. Milwaukee says no more riding my VROD by anyone, period.Milwaukee says to contact engineers in Kansas City ,
8-23-02 : Waiting to hear from Kansas City .

LOL! JMS, Hope you get her back up soon. Sorry to hear that. Remember, no matter how "almighty" the company is, it was built by a human. Humans are prone to error. The tranny assembler could have had a bad day at work, hell, he could have been running a website enthusiast forum and got pressure from the manufacturer. LOL.

Good luck and keep us posted. Sure hope this is an isolated incident. Gonna be some ticked off V-Rodders if it isn't.

Old engine came out today, new engine in tomorrow. New engine delivered in a high tech blue plastic box. Engineers in KC hypothesis is that the shifting drum, which is manufactured from several different parts, may be flexing, causing errant shifting. I dunno, but I do know that the transmission was/is having teething problems because of the helical 2-3-4 gears and the V&H engine has been shelved for now. If you have a chance, look down the throttle body into the intake valves. This is 1 Bad-Ass motor !

New motor in, hauls ass and shifts nicely. Swapping motors was not as big a deal that I thought it would be. We have an excellent mechanic here.
