The annual Trail of Tears ride is this weekend - starts in Chatt. south of Ross's Landing, traveling US 72 west through Huntsville and ending at the park in Florence, Ala. The ride will leave Chattanooga @ 8 am.

This is a huge ride, usually attracting 90,000+ bikes.

FYI - ride organizers and law enforcement are reminding everyone that jump- ins along the route is prohibited. Bikes jumping in the pack have caused some serious accidents in the past. There will be a group meeting at the Krystal on Broad Street at the base of Lookout Mtn., leaving out at 7:30 am to stay ahead of the main pack.

If you want to ride and stay out of the mega mess, you can meet up with us at the Krystal, or pick another spot along the route and leave out early. Regardless, if you're riding with us, watch your front, back, and side for those less skillful riders. One small accident in a group this big can be disastrous.

How can a "jump in" on a public highway be prohibited?
Just passing on the info we received from the ride organizers - they have declared this for the safety of the ride.
