On my 05 Electra Glide Ultra Classic I have what I believe is the stock Tour-Pak (King?), the service manual makes mention of the ability to mount this in two positions, but doesn't seem to detail this in the chassis section (chapter 2) with the Tour-pak removal/install. I'd like to move mine back about 2 inches but I'm not seeing any mounting holes to accomplish this. Can anyone shed light on this for me?

The way it is mounted right now, the bolt that holds the seat down is directly under the front edge of the Tour-pak. The manual said that if the rails are mounted in the rearward position, that you can access the seat bolt, but again, not sure what they mean.

It is not a quick release mount. Do I need a different (extended) mount to do what I want? If so, where can I find it?

I'll look more after work too, I only had a little while during lunch to work on it. Wishing it was warmer so I might be able to fire the engine up and see if anything else is broken. I'm hoping the long drawn out process of getting this back on the road is just about over. I do have oil pressure when I crank, so the engine work is looking good.

The seat and passenger seating is about the last of the things that I want to address, seems a little cramped back there, another 2 inches would be a lot.

Looks like the answer is to buy or make something. Kuryakyn has two solutions, one is flat stock with a bunch of holes in it that you bolt to the stock upper mount tube. The second is a new longer upper mount tube which would probably look a lot cleaner.

Third is too expensive but would be an adjustable slide adapter to bolt to the stock top tube. Much more flexible but $300.

Leaning towards option 2, but that is $200 and will probably require changes to my air ride system. Need to think about this a bit more.

That was also one of my thoughts. I'll probably go with the new mount because it will look the best, but going to wait until I know it runs again. I'm envisioning the fuel pump being dead since it sat for so long. And because I had that assembly out and replaced the filters but didn't replace the pump or pressure hose, so I'm expecting them to feel left out and wanting attention.

Of the two, since the price isn't that far off, I'm probably going to choose the second option. It will just look more like it is supposed to be there. The flat bar type I would be more likely to make on my milling machine, but that would take several hours for me to design and crank out.

I still haven't done anything on mine yet, but I'll probably go with the DK Customs. The sliding one looks interesting, but I don't think it is for me.

I decided to buy the DK customs and just ordered it. Kind of a lot for 2 pieces of metal that attach to the top of the stock tube, but it should give me the option of drilling and tapping new holes if I don't like the choices they gave me. You could call this adjustable if you are willing to do the work. An extra inch or maybe 2 is all that we want.

OK, the DK Customs mount is here... Not real impressed with what it is vs. the price. Going to wait until I get it mounted before I pass complete judgement. I think the Versions that have a different upper tube are probably going to be better, assuming they are made out of decent metal. I don't think this plate is going to be my final solution.

Probably going to start working on this at lunch and see if I can get my tourpak pulled off, then I can start on mounting the plate after work.

OK, now that I have looked at the tourpak more closely, this adapter is going to have to go back. The tourpak is molded to fit on the top of the tubing, a semicircle fits nicely around the tube. Slamming this molded area onto a flat plate is not going to be good (in my opinion). That leaves pretty much the Kuryakyn tubing as the only decent choice. Have to look around a bit more and see who makes what.

The Kuryakyn kit is going in pretty easily and should work out fine. The hardest part is going to be making the CB antenna fit. Need to run new airlines for my air tank and do a little mod on the tank mounting, so going to take me a bit longer than most people. The only thing I don't like is that they used standard length bolts. This means that there may be a lot of thread sticking down. For the price they charge, they should have had the bolts made to fit a little better. Probably going to spend some time cutting bolts down before I call this project done.

The new mount gets a thumbs up for comfort two up and driver's backrest installed. Might need to raise the passenger footboards a peg to compensate for sitting back farther.
