Just changed the oil in my 99 wide glide and noticed brass shavings in the oil drain pan......this can't be good. Anybody have an idea on what is going on internally? I suspect it will be expensive, possibly a crank bearing?. I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Is it just specs of brass or large parts? specs allmost like goldschlager flakes would be normal, anything larger might be a problem.

It's not making any noise, but the brass shaving are larger that what you would expect to be normal.

brass shavings

It definatly is not the crang bearings. Harley uses roller bearings there (except for the newest engine) If it's brass it would most likely be a bushing, you need to start checking into it before you take out the oil pump.
