My son and I stayed at Iron Horse Inn in Whitewood just about 7-8 miles north of sturgis. it was a nice Stay, away from the crowds, yet Close to the rally, covered parking for the bikes, (It rains) they had a washing and drying machines, Breakfast, band was playing, A bar, the town had restaurants gas station, you know Ect. with less crowds.
I stayed at the same place in 2016. To me, it was about perfect in terms of close proximity, yet you could escape if you wanted. Met a bunch of really nice folks from OK and IA. Great little restaurant in Whitewood. Good choice all around.

Last week, I ran across a guy I worked with in the past. He's always owned Pans, Shovels and Evos. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything he can't repair on them too. He's 69 now and his wife isn't in the best of health so this COVID mess has caused him to forego this year's rally, mainly for his wife's sake. I could tell in his voice it was a hard decision to skip his 40th Sturgis event. I forget how many times he said he's been there on his Sturgis Special model. Said "his girl" always got him home.

Update - 85 is surfaced as of yesterday but only 1 lane open with pilot escort. Might be done by the weekend.

85 - torn up E of Lead between Rochford Road and Cheyenne Crossing , the gravel area was about a 2 mile stretch, they water and compact it but there are still a lot of golf ball sized rocks to drive over in places.

Thanks for the update. Leaving tonight around 7. That should put us in Rapid for last call Friday night if all goes really well. More than likely we will be pulling in about sunrise Saturday.

5 hrs to go. Judging by all the bikes looks like a lot of people are going. There also is quite a few bike going east. Some people always come out the week before to avoid the crowds

Looks like they're expecting a smaller crowd and the locals (non-motorcycle folks) wanted the town to cancel the rally this year.
Yahoo finance huh? The ones that have suggested it's a white supremacist rally in the past? The antifa supporters that not only support defunding police but thru their support of antifa wouldn't require too much guessing to think they have no problem with blocking riders going to the rally. Of course just as expected antifa actually does value their own lives and didn't show up. I hope this doesn't surprise anyone, but weekend riders and nice guys are certainly not the only ones attending and it probably wouldn't go well for man-bun wearing soy-boys to stop 1%ers. Anyways, yahoo finance is a joke with experts constantly contradicting each other and often themselves. The town needs rally money despite those lacking the ability to do 3rd grade math saying they don't.

Well I did go and had a wonderful experience. The Black Hills never disappoint. I posted a bunch of pics on another thread. Pappy Hoel campground is already 50% booked for the 81st. Looks like another big one next year. No I did not wear a mask nor did I get sick, lol.

Going to Biketoberfest next.
