OK all you non-Sturgis-rallying people(me included)! Here we sit on the sidelines watching people depart for the biggest biker party of the year. I've always wanted to experience Sturgis but always seem to have other priorities. I've learned recently that if you want to enjoy the fun and exciting things in life, you have to MAKE them happen. I'm not going to be sitting in my rocking chair on the porch when I'm 90 years old regreting that I didn't experience some of these exciting things before I am too old or in too poor health to enjoy them. I'm going to do Sturgis 2003!. Get off of your bar stools guys and lets ride in 2003. We have a year to plan time off, finances, preparations, and details. I say DO IT!!!!!!!! Lets have a HDF party at the biggest bike partying rally in the world.

PS: if you need permission from your significent other, have them email Fifthgear. I'll clear you a path. LOL

FifthGear, Lisa (huckelberry1) and I will be there in 2003. We've made our reservations at a home of some folks we rented from last year. So we're likely to be in the area over a week.

In the Sturgis Forum, I believe there was a suggested site for an "eyeball". We'll have to check out the logistics but an "eyeball" is a definite!!!! Let's start making the plans NOW!!!! Get this thing confirmed.

I second Fifth's suggestion to confirm NOW for 2003. What a GREAT idea. There's plenty of time to save the money, request the time off, make arrangements, blah, blah, blah. No excuses for not making it in 2003.

You can bet your sweet bottom dollar that I'll be there. I started planning on it when I found out I wouldn't get my 03 bike in time. I'm for sure going. I've been emailing my butt off -- to all my old buddies all over the country. We're gona hook up and ride the wind.
I really wanted to go this year with an old buddy I've got in Alabama -- he's a good ole boy, don't ya know.
So don't leave me out of any plans FifthGear, OK?

I've heard that this year's rally was a major headache as far as traffic and crowds. Even way into the hills. Wonder what this means for next year. Usually after a big year like this the next one is light, but with it being the 100th - who knows! What are everyone's plans as far as when you are going out and where is everyone staying?

here i sit in the town you all speak highly of, chuckling to myself. i am beyond thrilled to say that i LIVE here, and that the party COMES TO ME!!!!! come one, come all! this years rally was huge. lets do it again next year..........i am recouped now to be able to say that

Ginger, I know that you must have your own problems to deal with every year since you live there. It's kind of like relatives visiting i guess, glad to see them but glad when they go back home. I heard that the traffic was the worst ever this year. It doesn't matter I guess, that's what the largest biker party in the world is all about i guess. I plan on going early regardless of where i am staying. Maybe that way i can enjoy the ridng and site seeing before the traffic gets bad and I can still experience the grandeur of the rally too. I hope to be able to meet you finally next year. It should be a good one.

coming early to a certain extent is all fine and dandy, but a person must also expierence the week of the rally in full. one cannot say that they have been to sturgis if they were not here for the rally. i do admit that coming early does have its advantages, ie.....being able to ride the hills with out alot of traffic, etc, but the true meaning of the rally is the crowds and the excitement. and ya, your right, it gets old after awhile.....meaning the end of the week, a person gets tired and ready for it to end, but then when the next year rolls around, your ready to do it all over again.

First trip

Ginger, gonna be our first trip out to Sturgis, we have about 6-8 guys heading out, was looking for lodging and would like some recommendations. The majority of the clan do not want to camp (older guys), so I need to find something with a roof and heat! lol

Any recommendations????

Cool gator, looking forward to it. As we get closer we'll firm up the plans for a meet/party/ride or whatever. I am counting the days and sitting on go. I did make some reservations already way outside Sturgis for quiker access to the hills but I will be there early to get in some good riding/site seeing before the crowd and I'll be there to join the biggest biker party in the world. This will be one hell of a trip for me. Come on people, lets talk some serious partying here......first beer is on me at my place.

gator, since a bunch of you are going i would recommend that you all chip in for a motel room then......keep in mind that rooms are very costly during the rally, but if you all bunk up and share the expense, it should be so bad

gator, there is a website.......not positive of it for sure, but i think its century 21 or something of sturgis that has listings of houses to rent for the rally. but i must tell you tho that a house for the rally will run your funds pretty dry. they do not go cheap. i still recommend a motel room if you have many people going who can help split the cost.
