Stock crossover headers vs true duals, and O2 EFI question

FNG here. I have a 2005 RK Classic with stock head pipes (with crossover), stage 1 flash and Screamin Eagle intake. I plan to get aftermarket slip-ons and a Power Commander III. Reading through countless threads, I've learned that true dual head pipes will sound better, and some claim a performance bump over stock headers. But I have only seen conflicting opinions on the subject of performance between these two setups.

Question is, if all other parts are equal, how much (if any) power is gained by switching from stock Road King head pipes to true duals (such as Vance and Hines Dual Head Pipes for Dresser)?

Also, can anybody recommend a PC III-type ECM manager that would use O2 sensors? The S&S CLEFI system looks like a real pain to install...

This forum rocks.

For the performance gain on a Stage 1 engine, I would recommend you go with your original plan and save money to boot. Stock headers, Cycle Shack slip on's, Stage 1 A/C and PCIII

From my results the true duals will rob you about 5hp. However a proper tune with a SERT or PC you will not notice. Additionally folks believe CAM choice can help this. A few of the guys I ride with who bring there SO on rides frequently have gone back to stock headers (due to seat of the pants feel).

As for 02 options:

1) TCFI System from Daytona Twin Tec - http://www.daytona-twintec.com/TCFI.html
2) S&S VFI (aka Variable Fuel Injection) - http://www.sscycle.com/catalog17/TwinCam/html/TwinCam.htm, look at page 34.
3a) Terry Components Terminal Velocity - http://www.terrycomp.com/tv.html
3b) World Thunder Empire Alpha N Processor (same as above) http://www.worldthunderempire.com/products.html

**With option #3a and 3b you will need to flash the ECU or use a SERT to get full benefit out of the unit. It works on adjusting the injectors signal to maintain an optimal A/F Ratio. With your present build you can add the Alpha N Processor. If you were going to build your bike out then you will have to get something additional as described above.

The PCIII does not use O2 sensor at this time (I am sure it is planned). SERT does not either at this time. So the above are your choices for your RK.

Thanks csoday and styd24. Makes good sense. I'll probably stick with plan A and save money for flowers or something for the wife. That should help in the performance and sound areas too.
