Very good advice......thanks......I'll have to check that out.
I'd do the stage I upgrade (free flowing breather and less restrictive exhaust) and ride it for a couple of years (however long it takes you to put 30,000 miles on it).daddio said:What would you do if you were me? Dealer kit with new bike, or gear cams later? :hmmm:
I agree with genoway... look at my specsgenoway said:I only disagree with SEDeluxe on one thing, two years is a long time to be stuck with stock. I would get the Stage II 95ci and pipes at delivery, but have them substitute the 204 for the 203 cams. Then when your warranty is up you can change over to the cams of your choice and get some headwork.
I would get the Stage I 95" kit installed at delivery and then do the cams and heads at your leisure. This will give you a peppy bike with plenty of torque to ride thru the warranty (tourers are a bit heavy, I have an '05 FLHRCI) and you will use the SE parts you paid fo rin an upgraded 95" engine. In other words, I think this is the best compromise between warranty use and not buying some parts twice, because you can use the jugs and pistons from the SE build with no ill effects when you upgrade the heads and cam later.daddio said:To those who have gone before........
I am taking delivery soon of a '06 RK. I am contemplating the 95" Stage II big bore kit with cams installed by the dealer at delivery, something that I would want done eventually sooner or later.
Installed in the new bike, the warranty on the mod will be covered for two years by the dealer, something I feel is a good thing (rather than the 90 day warranty on later installation by the dealer).
The more I hear and read in these forums, I may be better to ride the stock bike for a couple of years, then go with aftermarket gear driven cams and big bore from a reputable builder.
What would you do if you were me? Dealer kit with new bike, or gear cams later? :hmmm:
