Just got my 1st Harley...2000 Pearl Bronze RKC.

What have I been waiting for ?? This bike is great....

But, what's up with these extremely noisey brakes...?? It sounds like the read calipers aren't releasing thus a constant "slight" grinding sound. The fronts, after a 300 mile run, squeal like an old Nova without pads...

Hmmm...I've searched the forums and it does seem to happen a little to folks with RK's. I only have 3000 miles, so I was surprised with this..

Any hints? Are there recalls on that model year brake components? Or do I live with it?

Thanks....Bucket

Have ya checked the pad lining thickness?
If you've only got 3K on the bike in over 2 yrs the bets are on that it's been parked up, the pistons 'could' be sticking in their bores.
Then again they're 'infamous' for that rubbing sound. It lessens with age, mine did.
I have heard that its to do with the holes in the rotors.

Uh oh. Just like JimmyK's old sled.

Let me set the mood.....

Reminiscing (Little River Band, edited by me)

Friday night, it was late, I was riding you home
We got down to the gate and I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right
How to tell you girl
I wanna build my world around you
Tell you that it's true
I wanna make you understand I'm talkin' about a lifetime plan

That's the way it began, we were handlebars in hand
Glenn Miller's Band was better than before
We yelled and screamed for more
And the Porter tunes (Night and Day)
Made us dance across the room
It ended all too soon
And on the way back home I promised you'd never be alone

Hurry, don't be late, I can hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go racing in the dark
Riding through the park and reminiscing

Friday night, it was late, I was riding you home
We got down to the gate and I was dreaming of the night
Would it turn out right
Now as the years roll on
Each time we hear our favorite song
The memories come along
Older times we're missing
Spending the hours reminiscing

Hurry, don't be late, I can hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go racing in the dark
Riding through the park and reminiscing

Yea, Just like Jimmy's ole bike ...

Hey, mine were noisy too! Fronts rubbed from the get go. Rear was mush. In that I totaled the bike, I'm not sure if it was an issue or not!
