I'm considering a new Springer Softail.

I'd like to read some pro's or con's as to owning one. What does the fork feel like compared to a hydraulic fork when riding? Handling, good, better or worse than a hydraulic fork? Any maintenance issues?

And lastly I love how they look so let's see some pics. My favorite is the Bad Boy with flames as shown in the Performance Machine catalog and on their website.

Aw sorry to hear that. The black bag I ordered they must have had. The email I got said it will take a few days to ship. Hey have you ever tried this? Take the part number to your local dealer, and have him run it to see if any dealers still have one. I have done it with my dealer here a couple of times.
I have tried this. I get a list of dealers with the item in stock and call each one. None of them have it. I think I'll just wait for my son to get bigger so he can ride with me. Then I won't be able to use a solo seat. Problem solved.

Well I hope it works for both of us, I ordered one with black trim, that one came up in a google search, while i was there i put in the blue one and it came back, keep your fingers crossed:thumbsup:
No good.

Got an email saying items discontinued. No kidding!! Don't they ever take anything off their web site? It looks like every item number will work and then they will try to order it. I wonder how much time they waste on items no longer available.

I knew it was too good to be true but hoped we had found a dealer with a secret stash. Oh well. :crying:

Retail was $325 when they were availble from the Dealer. If you see a blue trim one under $500 for sale anywhere let me know. They come up on ebay sometimes but the price is way too high.
FLSTS try this, https://www.surdyke.com/hd/product.asp?prod=1948&cat=48

For those riding on a 97-99 Springer seat, how confortable are they? My Deluxe seat kinda suxs after 1 hour. Also, will a 97-99 fit on an 06 Deluxe?
Tkx.
Dunno...I put a studded Heritage seat (OEM) on mine and I can stay in the saddle all day...

Good news/bad news...

Guess I gotta start with the bad to appreciate the good...The BAD news: Yesterday while riding with a few friends (only 1 delinquent) I had the opportunity to do some hard braking...suddenly I get this wild wobble, fortunately we were near Vafatboy's house. Seems one of my aftermarket risers broke in the front end, (springer) allowing the bars to tweak back and forth quite a bit...hence the wobble under hard braking...Now for the GOOD; my wife and I didn't fall down (guess it was a good birthday after all :D) but now I have to find a good manufacturer of springer risers...a little history; I bought Custom Chrome risers (offset 6") that they said would work on my year and model...too short as they hit the dash and the shoulder is cut wrong for fit. (has to be ground) They don't wanna exchange...bought Paughco 7" riders, same problem with the shoulders...that's the one that broke off down in the fork...any suggestions???(other than stock, can't go back because of modifications)

UPDATE...got it fixed...ready to ride!!!

Has anyone used the solid mount stainless risers offered by Specific Alloy Components ...or solids mounts of any kind on their Springer?

I'm putting a set of Flanders 12" internally wired apes on my '05 FXSTSI and have been told that the vibrations would be amplified rather than dissapated by using solid mounts:huh:

I just bought a 2006 springer softail and i truly love it. I just wondered if any of you know of any websites where i can shop around for some upgrades to my bike. Looking for POW/MIA covers, grips and other stuff of that nature. Also needing a custom seat. Any help would be great. Thanks

Springers are tough to find parts for...at least up front but almost all softail parts will fit everywhere else...

Springer Tach?

Love my 05 FX Springer!! Good to see so much support for them!! I'm looking to put a tach on mine but have 11/4 T bars. Outside of the HD Speedo/tach dash model which is a little costly, Im looking to "hide" one between the risers down low. Anyone tried this or know of a set-up that will work??

Thanks
Mike

Question for you Springer owners...

Do you think the Springer saddlebags will clear the pipes shown in the thread below? I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of these pipes for my Deluxe and would like to go with Springer bags if at all possible.

Thanks for the help.

Beautiful bike...IMHO not having a HS or Classic if that upper pipe is at or below and inside of the passenger foot rest they oughta fit...

Want to trade a chrome front end for a black front end

I have an 03 Heritage springer and was thinking about powder coating the front end, I was wondering if anyone has the springer classic and wanted their front end chrome, if so, I will do a trade with a little cash included if anyone is interested.
Thanks-
Dave

Thanks for the part numbers. The saddlebags changed in 2001 when they dropped the fringe. Would you happen to know the part numbers for those bags?

Also, anyone know the part number of the rider seat rail?

Thanks again!!!
Can't help you with part numbers, but I know someone who has an extra set they'll be selling.
