Finally bought myself a Sportster, a '94 1200. Bog standard apart from a plush seat and sissy bar.
Small problem though , a tiny drip of trans oil from the left footpeg mounting bolts. Used a stopgap solution, a couple of turns of thread-tape round the heads of the bolts and replaced them, voila no more oil.
has anyone come across this before? Is it a common problem? And do I have to use Harley oil to top up the trans, as stated in the manual, or is there an alternative.

Cheers, Rik

I run the Harley Sporty primary oil, its cheep and good. Must be a leak to the bolt bore and hence out the bolt. If its stoped good to go other wise a new gasket is not to hard to install.
