I have acquired 98 Fatboy that had been crashed and the turn signals had been damaged. So rather than replacing them i removed them. Now the speedo doesn't work. I have read that they are related but can't figure out how to bypass so the speedo will work. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't see how the speedometer and turn signals are related. I think another connection came loose during the crash.

He doesn't need a speedometer just signals. The cops will tell him how fast he was going.

Did the speedo work prior to the crash? My guess is, you have no knowledge of Speedo function prior... and are assuming The absence of the signals negates Speedo function... this is a negative,, The Speedo will work properly without turn signals being present on the bike.. the only link between the speedo and turn signals is,,, the signals are cancelled through the tsm/tssm. By signal received through the speed sensor..
Check the speedo sensor output per the diagnostic tree in service manual.. it is a simple test and requires only a volt meter, and a way to raise the rear wheel off the ground..
