Trying to turn a disaster into an opportunity. Having picked up a used '01 FLSTC a while back, I figured it was time to change all of the fluids before something went wrong. Turned out I was a little late. The drain plug for the transmission was ungodly tight, and when it did break loose, it just sits there and spins. :badmood: Apparently it's stripped internally so it's not going anywhere. At least it's not leaking, (yet.)
After carefully reviewing my entire vocabulary of things to call the bike, the guy who sold me the bike, and the guy who last worked on the tranny, it dawns on me that this could be an opportune moment to install the 6 speed I've been wanting.
I've found Cyborg Cycles offering RevTech 6 speeds for a grand, (I'd love a Baker but at 1/3 the cost, what can I say?) Trouble being they list the RevTech 58-340 as for '90 to '99 Softail, as does most of the rest of the world. I did find a couple of other places that suggested the 58-340 would fit '90 to Present. Anyone know if there was a tranny change in '00? If it fits my '01, I could come out of the sh!t pile smelling like a rose! ~!Awesome!
