Yo Terry, what's up. I see you haven't done the 16" swap. Had a change of heart?

Don
I thought the braces look cool too, really adds to the look. 03fxst I still want to do the switch but I'm really digging the look I have now with the full rear fender. I see that HD came out with a stripped down Heritage and I think my bike may look to much like them. I'm still looking for a 16" used rim. If I come across one I'll likley buy it but there is not alot of used parts up here. I change my mind as often as I change my shorts. My wife says I'm worse than a woman. I still love this overall look in the end 03fxst.

nochrome,

Any issues installing the fatboy rear fender or does it bolt right up? Any info helps as I am going to do the same with my '03.

Thanks.
So many choices. But I still feel good with my bike as it is.
SeaDog, my bike is an 01 and the fender is new from harley purchased in May 05. It bolts on with no mods. the wiring harness is plenty long enough and your existing tail light flips over to be mounted on. With that said though you will have to buy the chrome mounting plate for your tail light. All plugs are the same. The one thing I did not like was when HD went to a wider tire in 02 or 03 they bent in the small channel in the underside of the fender to make room without having to reconstruct a new fender. this seems to have weekend the fender in terms of its stiffness. You can twist the fender now by hand. Not a big deal but just one of those things I noticed. Also you will have a rubber channel with 3m tape that will be used to hold your wiring up inside the fender. I liked the older fenders with the hangers spot welded on. You will need to take the connector off the end to slip the harness through (do not cut the wires, they pull out/unlock if you know what your doing then lock back in when you done). Easy job with no problems.

Hey guys I can't get into seeing the attachments your posting. It says I do not have a valid email. My email is correct, whats up? I would like to see your rides.
That's because you are a blueguy. A few months ago changes to a paid membership took effect. $15/year for access to all the bells and whistles.
I was donating money to the site anyway,so it's been cheaper for the membership.

Thanks - exactly the information I was hoping to hear.

How do you like the sound?
'04 Directional sig. relocation kit and removable sissy

Anybody have done the relocation kits for directional light relocation and the docking kit for quick release sissy bar setup on your Softail> How does it look (the directional signals relocated)--does it look like a hodge podge setup or does it look like a quality setup?
Bit slow to answer.......

rkt,
I got these second hand and the baffles had already been altered. They sound pretty good to me the way they are now, although maybe drone a bit at speed. Currently in the process of ordering the Big City Thunder Monster baffles and give them a go. Also, probably get the V&H Quiet baffles before exporting the bike to Australia to keep Customs / transport department happy, hope that helps, John

Yes, I have done this and it is a bit mickey mouse, the stem is hollow and I broke one; didn't even tighten it that much! But, I have the 1 piece sissy bar, which is great by the way, so this was the only way to fit the mounts. Also, very fiddly with cutting & splicing the wires because they run inside the stem. Some pictures, excuse the grime, bin riden :xhere:

I was lucky to live in Harley paradise in Hawaii for 4 years with my FXST. Good times. :brows:
Changing tires on a 2001 Deuce

I need both tires replaced on my newly aquired Deuce. I would like to know how big of a job changing the tires are. I am pretty good at working on things but have never tackled changing tires before and would like your thoughts as to if it is something I should try. I have ordered the service manual and have no intention of doing it without good instruction.

What I am asking is how difficult it is, how long it should take to do and do I need to be a genius to do it?

Thanks in advance
My first Harley

Thought I'd add my bit here.......am picking up an 03 FXST on Saturday from my local dealer...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice black one with sissy bar and rack on rear, drilled pipes, otherwise standard.....rode it yesterday for the first time before I signed on the dotted line what a ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will add pics as soon as I can...Thanks to all for such a great site too.....helped me to decide what Harley I wanted from all the excellent advice here

Finally got my christmas present on the bike. I love these bars compared to stock. Right where my hands are supposed to be.
Nads, what bars are those? And how tall are you?
Barry
Hello ironbut(Terrya12), I have a 2002 FXST and am thinking of changing the bars from original. I really like the look of your bike, especially with the apehangers.Could you please tell me the height/type and make etc of your bars. Also please tell me how you find the riding position.
Thanks
Need Seat Opinions For FXST(i)

Hey all, I know there is a section on the forum for seats only. But I figured since I'm subscribed to this thread I'd ask fellow FXST/softail riders. I'm looking for a solo seat and was wondering what your opinions are on (1) Comfort (2) Look (3) I'd like the seat to move me forward a little (I'm 5.9 1/2). I imagine that a deep bucket seat would move me/ keep me forward..ya think? With the slope on my current seat the way it is my butt keeps sliding up it and eventually I get numb butt. From cruising the forum I've found that Lepera & Mustang are the seats of choice. Do ya agreee with that? Right now I have the 100th Anniv seat on (which is no better than the stock seat..'nuf said there). Hope ya don't mind the seat question but there are a zillion posts in the seat thread. Many with titles like "Help!". Yeah, that tells me what bike they're talkin about. Thanks in advance for any input. Peace.

I just recently ordered a Corbin Classic Solo. I'll let you know how it works out when it arrives. I'll include pics too.
