MAC4020 Really like the bike, how many harleys does one guy need anyway? Don't answer that, I know the answer.:duh?:

TheBeerGuy, very sweet ride, nice and clean, like the studs, nice touch.

I think I'm done with mine now. Maybe new paint but thats about it. Time to add another to the stable, I'm thinking Street Glide or RK.

The front fender was the last thing I put on it this summer before I road it to the Arctic Circle.

Shaw. Does that wheel slide in with no mods? That is a real nice look.

Hoofnhog I got the fender from JP Cycles, its the metal one and comes with spacers. I cut the mounts down 1 inch because I thought it road to high on the wheel. I wish they had rolled the edges under like HD instead of cutting it off. Other than that I like it.

Thanks, needed to do some mods for my year, newer years 03 or 04 up don't need any, whichever year they went to the 150mm stock wheel. I needed a wider tire spacer (2")for the left side and needed to machine off .125 on the caliper in order to center the wheel. I reveresed the strut bolts and put acorn nuts on them.
Mac, your wifes bike is very very impressive. I like the look you have created there alot. Mind if I ask a couple of question on it... the front fender.. where did you get that if you can remember? also, the windscreen... where?

When you put on the Sumax Rear Fender... any gotcha's with it? I know you bought it and put it on the bike but what's your input on that fender? I really like that and probably will copy your look there. How much for the Bar seat? I am looking at a C&C leather myself. Did you get a pad with that?

Thanks man, shiny side up. Your wife is a lucky gal to have your talent around.

Thought I would post some pics of my wife's '05 FXST that I customized for her. I bought it as a salvage (fire damage) so after all the old damaged parts were stripped off we were able to build exactly what she wanted.

Features:

Adjustable rear lowering kit
2" under forks w/ HD profile low suspension kit (springs & jiffy stand)
FL footboards
Short brake lever
Flanders 35 degree drag bars w/ 8" risers
Sumax Loboy rear fender
Aftermarket front fender
V&H Shortshot staggered pipes
Bar Enterprises solo seat w/ flame stitching
Custom paint by me

Try to ignore the sky-blue rusted out $hitbox in the background...

Thanks for the compliments...the front fender was an ebay purchase from Demon's Cycle. With shipping it was around $60. I went thru their ebay store and they don't seem to have much in the way of fenders right now, but that will probably change. Anyway, it's the 21" wide glide and its something like 4-3/4" wide so it has to be mounted with spacers. The ones that I used are from Jireh Cycles, P/N 19-246, $41.95.

The windshield is a Memphis Shades Rio Grande in gradient black. Another ebay purchase from American Classic Motors, $183 including shipping. The Rio Grande is the largest sport shield Memphis Shades makes. It's a little too tall for my wife (she's 5'1") so I'm going to switch it out for a Del Rio which is 2" shorter. I'll make you a great deal on the windshield if you want it, but you'll have to buy the mounting hardware for it.

The Sumax fender (Jireh Cycles P/N 19-205, $127.95) I was really pleased with. I used the original fender as a template to drill the mounting holes. I laid the Sumax on the floor on its side and placed the original on top of it and used a square to align the top edges of both fenders as well as the cutout for the ECM tray. As long as you take your time mounting it, the rest is a breeze. It comes ready for paint so all I did was wet sand it with 600 grit to get rid of the little bit of orange peel in the gel coat before painting.

The seat was a custom order...narrower in the front, thinner in the seat, and padded in the rear to push the rider forward so it was more expensive than a standard solo. With the millenium foam (same as the tempurpedic mattress stuff you see on tv) and the flame stitching it ran about $400. It's very well made and the foam is incredibly comfortable. Much better than the gel seats I have for my Heritage. It's solo only - my wife can barely handle the bike by herself, let alone with a passenger.

Any other details you need, just ask. I've gotten a lot of help from this site and am always glad to return the favor when I can.

This is my favorite thread here! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that loves their Standard. But, the fact is I've practically changed everything on the bike thru the years and have made it anything except standard! Here's the short list:

Thunderheader 2-1, Stage 1, SE intake, DFO, 05 Night Train tins, Color matched front spoiler, HD Brawler solo, Ness +3" forward controls, FLSTN risers, FXR bars, Lowered rear, floating rotors, Metz ME880 90/90 front and 160/80 rear.

And too much more to list! Anyway, my baby started as an 04 FXSTI and now has about 13,500 miles on it and runs perfect. Here's some pics.

Luckydawg,

That's a great looking bike you have there. I'm looking towards moving my front turn signals down to the forks like you did. How hard was it to do? I'm getting ready to put custom bars and chrome switch housing and I want the front to look uncluttered. Thanks in advance for your help.

In fact if anyone else has pics of their various turn signal set ups I'd like see.

Thanks. I think the turn signals look way better on the forks than the bars. Its a simple project. I just cut the zip ties that held the turn signal wires to the hand control switch wires and mounted the turn signals with the relocation kit to the fork sliders. You'll have a little extra wire (2) but you can stuff them back under the tank and the rubber boot. Take some zip ties and secure the turn signal wires back to the wiring harness in a few places where you had previously removed them. Should take 30-45 minutes. The kit I used is HD part# 68952-98 retails $59.95 and comes with instructions.

HD came out with another kit since I bought mine that mounts to the pinch bolt on the lower triple tree instead of the fork sliders that I think looks better (in the catalog anyway). Its HD part# 58742-05 and is $44.95. You can save 20% and no sales tax on these prices if you buy online.

Chrome switch housings are a nice touch. I helped a buddy change his out and after that decided to leave mine alone. The best time to do it is when you're changing the bars like you are. Might as well run the wires internally while your at it. Then of course you'll need braided SS cables and brake line, chrome perches and levers, custom grips, etc....... You see how it snowballs! Hope this helps. Good luck with the project. Let us see it when your done.

Thanks. The solo probably changed the look of the bike more so than any other single item! Its a H-D Brawler custom leather seat with "Sweep" stitching. H-D part 51079-02. I think its discontinued and retailed for $329. I got mine off ebay a while back. If I'm not mistaken High End is the company that made these for H-D.
Here is a pic of mine in my garage for the winter. LSR 2-1 slashcuts in the spring with big boyz heads.

Cdirk, good looking bike. What headlight and front turn signals relocation kit did you use.

Thanks Mcsnitz. I am not sure on the relocation kit. The lights were like that when I bought the bike used a few years ago. The Headlight I purchased from Eastern Performance. Its a 5.75" x 7" Tri Bar. I also purchased a post to mount it on so it sticks out a bit futher rather than being stuck inside the triple trees. Gives it that stretched look in front.

Anybody here belong to this...?

I saw it somewhere in cyberspace and copped the pix.
Now I can't remember where I saw it, but it is haunting me with its evil beauty.
If YOU know how to find the article from whence the pictures came, please post about it.

I found a link ( after a couple of hours ) that shows a similar setup as in the pix.

I'm still waiting and wanting to get my first H-D and have run the gamut from Road King to Fat Boy to V-Rod to Night Train to RoadGlide (my favorite).
My best friend has a Dyna Wide Glide.
I found the pix of the Softail Custom and started thinking about the "SOFTAIL BAGGER" pictured above.
That would put me smack dab in the middle of all the other bikes I've been drooling over, and I actually LIKE the idea...so I'm halfway there.
One of the dealer managers told me today about 'the one that makes your heart beat faster' and now I've got that feeling he's talking about.
THAT BIKE has a fantastic mix of Touring/Chopper/Style all mixed into one.

Somebody tell me how sick I am, please!
