You got yourself a genuine old school Softail there.

It's cool cuz '84 was the first year for the FXST and the Evolution, so it still has the chain drive and 4 speed with electric and kick start. Can't go very far with that peanut tank, but I wouldn't change a thing!
: )
Depends on the pipes you have. Used to have 16G DB and yes they scraped. Now have V&H Big Radius and I have only scraped them once turning out of a driveway.roloplex said:Got a question about having your bike lowered. Is the ground clearance around turns a problem. I lowered the wifes, I think it was about 2" with a progressive kit using stock shocks. first ride she pulled out of the driveway and scraped the swingarm and almost dumped it. I quickly raised it up a little. still looks great and not quite as dangerous.
do you mind if I ask what bars those are? or do you remember how much rise they have?tealharley said:I was lucky to live in Harley paradise in Hawaii for 4 years with my FXST. Good times. :brows:
They look like stock Dyna bars to me, maybe he swapped out at some point. Click my pictures below to see Chubby Wild One 12-1/2" Apes with 1-1/2" Risers if that is what you are looking forRob_OBX said:do you mind if I ask what bars those are? or do you remember how much rise they have?
THanks
Def want to see some pics, I just put the lowering kit on my shocks while everything is torn apart, hadn't decided how low I want to go yet. Be very interested in how yours turned out.roloplex said:People are still here just not much talking going on. I just lowered my FXST w/ the fat boy rear fender on and it looks f-ing great. Didn't think the 1in. would be enough but it is. Will post a pick later to see what you all think.
